Vanessa & Alyssa’s Intimate Private Property Wedding Day
This day was an emotional one on a personal side as well as a professional one.
These two beautiful souls have become friends, even family, to me over the last few years.
Vanessa, an insanely talented soul, has become not only a boss to my daughter but both of these ladies have taken her under their wings becoming friends, big sisters, and bonus parental figures for here over the last few years. Being on this journey from engagement, through their wedding day (and another big announcement at the end of the ceremony) has been such an honour and blessing.
Their road to I do has had it’s fair share of bumps along the way, shifting their planning but ultimately bringing them to a beautiful intimate micro wedding on family property with the people who mean the most to them. Warm. Simple. Personal.
What a perfect way to celebrate their day!
Without further ado, before I get sappy or say something to embarrass my daughter, I’m going to turn it over to our beautiful brides Vanessa & Alyssa to share a peek into their love story with us among this sneak peek of photos.
Their Love story, In their Words…
How Did You First Meet?
We met at the Idlewyld Inn and Spa as coworkers! Not long after I (Vanessa) offered my help to babysit/be a nanny for George who had just turned one at that time. I was his nanny for several months as we got to know one another and slowly fell in love.
When did you know your partner was the one? Was there something your partner did?
I knew Alyssa was the love of my life from the first time I laid eyes on her. Something inside of me just knew and while it has not been an easy 6 years, we have learned so much about each other and have grown together l, which has made our love so much stronger! I grew on Alyssa. She was very concerned for my health and well being at the time we met and was determined to do anything she could to help me. As I started coming out of my shell and getting healthier, both mentally and physically, she started to fall in love with me.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
We love each others family values and commitment to growing and learning together, how strong we make one another and how every thing we go through together only makes us stronger.
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.
I (Vanessa) feel the need to sing simple phrases that are said that trigger song lyrics in my head! Sometimes I add a little uncoordinated dance to go with it that makes her shake her head and smile.
Alyssa feels the need to randomly pinch one of my n*ps multiple times a day, particularly when we’re having a moment or it’s quiet!
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planing?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
For our 2 year anniversary, I gave Alyssa a very detailed, completely handmade scrap book (it ended up being two books as I made it too big for the bindings lol) filled with all of our experiences over the last two years together. Every vacation/get away, every birthday, every milestone, every part of us as a family with George, filled with pictures from every event, song quotes and little loving notes! Alyssa cried as she flipped through the pages and we shared laughs and smiles about all of the memories! Not long after, while we were sitting together after bedtime routines with our son, Alyssa pulled out the ring box and told me how much she loved me and wanted me to be a part of her life for as long as we both lived, that she loved how easily I slipped into a parental role for George and how flawlessly we became a team together! I said yes without hesitation and we both held each other and cried! It was personal and magical!
Besides getting married --‐ what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Sharing our love with our friends and family, celebrating with everyone and some much needed dancing together!
What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now?
Micro-weddings! We think they are so intimate and personal and love that we aren’t breaking the bank for one day, we can save it all for our future life together as a family!!
What inspired your décor or theme?
We stayed very simple for decorations and flowers but always loved the rustic theme so tried to use the few decorations we were using to express that!
What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Not to stress about the little things and not to build a wedding based on what a wedding “should be” according to the media. Our first time planning the wedding was full of arguments and delays and struggles because we were clashing in our visions and trying to accommodate for everyone else! After we took a small break and started to plan again it was so much smoother because we focused on what we wanted and cared about and made it about us! It was absolutely perfect for what we wanted!!
